Big changes coming in April.

March Rabies Clinic (Free)

Thank you to all volunteers and responsible pet owners of Scotland County for participating in our Free Rabies Clinic Event!

The rabies vaccine is very safe and effective at preventing the virus. Unvaccinated pets that bite people or are bitten by strays are likely to be euthanized! Protect your pet from this uncertainty with a free rabies vaccination. You must come by SCHS during our normal business hours with ID to receive your free rabies vaccination stamped voucher for your cat/dog (limit of 4). This voucher is required to be presented at the event. No exceptions! No vouchers will be given the day of the event. Pets must be a minimum of 4 months old to be vaccinated.

This event was free to all Scotland County residents!

Vaccinations were administered by Dr. Baker with assistance from X-Way Road and Academy Animal Hospitals volunteers.

Rock This Town

On Saturday February 24th, 2024, from 7PM-11PM Scotch Meadows Country Club hosted Rock This Town, a Mardi Gras themed fundraiser. The proceeds from which greatly determined our overall financial success and ability to fund the much-needed Trap Neuter Vaccinate Return (TNVR) Program service for the feral cat population in our community. This program is to be provided through Scotland County Humane Society, where community members have expressed an overwhelming support for the TNVR Program.

A pair of breeding cats, which can have two or more litters per year, can exponentially produce 420,000 offspring over a seven-year period. Feral cats control the populations of rats and mice without the need for chemicals and toxic sprays. If left unchecked, the rodent population can spread germs and diseases. Replacing trap and kill with TNVR will lessen taxpayer costs as well as minimizes the need for shelter euthanasia as well as the overpopulation in Scotland County.

Thank you to all who donated and sponsored this event!
